An initiative led by parents of children with special needs, TreyWay Agency is a nonprofit organization connecting everyday care workers, post-secondary students, & entry-level special education professionals to schools & communities unable to meet the needs of their students with disabilities.
Studies show there is a huge gap in special education. Schools all around the country either do not have the resources to hire special education professionals or do not have access to special education professionals. Because of this millions of students with disabilities go under the radar, underserved, or worst; merely pushed through the system. TreyWay’s goal is to be the liaison and make the connections. Identifying and recruiting qualified candidates, who have a passion for the field is our first order of business.
There are hundreds of colleges with great special education programs filled with passionate students eager to get hands-on experience in the field. Students in their senior year of studies are assigned tasks that include observing and creating care plans for students with disabilities. However many do not have access to classrooms. TreyWay’s goal is to create a database and directory of sped professionals who lack access to classrooms and communities of students with disabilities.
More and more families are left with the tough decision of sacrificing their careers in order to properly care for their child with special needs. In many families it has become a full-time job. So much so that the government is now offering programs to caregivers that will allow them to earn an income while caring for their child with special needs. Most are unaware these resources are available. TreyWay’s goal is to promote these resources and serve families as an authorized representative by assisting caregivers through the process of being certified and meet the government requirements for said programs.
With little to no experience recent graduates and entry-level professionals aren’t afforded the same opportunities and rates of pay in the workforce. TreyWay’s goal is to identify and connect this demographic of professionals with local organizations, health facilities, and schools in order to bridge the huge gap in the controversial topic of student to sped professional ratio.
